Dr. Edd Chariker

MD

Dr. Chariker is a South Carolina native born in the upstate in York County. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Wake Forest University in 1967 and then moved to the Low Country where he was awarded his MD degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1971. This was followed by internship and residency in general surgery (1971-1976) and then thoracic surgery residency (1976-1978), both programs at Medical University of South Carolina. After 31 years of practicing thoracic and cardiovascular surgery in the Charleston area and dealing extensively with the venous system both normal and diseased, he has now established Palmetto Vein Specialists. The practice in this clinic deals exclusively with vein disease and complications arising from it, offering the latest in noninvasive and office based invasive therapies. Diagnostic and therapeutic modalities are contained within the clinic.

Shelby Padgett

RDMS, RVT

Shelby Padgett is our registered vascular ultrasound technologist. Shelby received her Associate of Health Science in Radiologic Technology degree from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College in Orangeburg, SC in 1999. She then obtained her Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences degree and Certificate of Diagnostic Medical Sonography from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA in 2000. Shelby is registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) with credentials in Vascular Technology (VT), Abdomen (ABD), and Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN). She is also a registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
